Here is a portion of this year’s Holiday Letter from Nancy Meyerson, Board Chair of Care for Real:
“When Care for Real was established more than 40 years ago, the founders believed they were addressing a temporary need. Unfortunately, that need has not gone away. Over the past year alone, Care for Real has helped more than 53,000 people, giving them enough food to prepare 400,000 meals. Families visited our clothes closet more than 6,000 times, and we even were able to distribute donated pet food and supplies for some 3,000 dogs and cats.”
“These numbers are staggering to me, that in our country, in our city, in our neighborhood, so many people must turn to a food pantry to be able to feed themselves and their families.”
“But we live in a community where generosity abounds, so we can meet this continuing and growing need. Your gifts of money, food, clothes, toys and school supplies, and the almost 30,000 volunteer hours you give enable us to reduce the burden on so many of our neighbors.”
