photos of help provided by the nonprofit, Care for RealCare for Real’s just published February email update highlights that Banfield Charitable Trust awarded CfR with a Pet Pantry Grant and a donation/Valentine’s Day Dental Promotion being offered by Radiant Smiles for You. The nonprofit thanks Value Services, 6040 North Broadway, Chicago, who oversee their van repairs and donates their time and work to see that CfR’s vans continue to operate soundly. Care for Real also thanks Mb Financial Bank for stepping up and hosting a food drive on their behalf throughout the entire month of February. And they remind readers that the dates and times for this year’s Hunger Walk 2013 will be announced soon.  On Saturday, February 9, Sacred Heart Schools will be honoring CfR and presenting them with the 2013 Goal Award at the L’espirit de Sacre Coeur 10th Anniversary, Carnivale 2013. This is a prestigious award and a wonderful acknowledgment. Finally, CfR is grateful to have been included as a beneficiary at this year’s Winter Pooch-a-Palooza from Urban Pooch.

Care for Real is a vibrant organization. It was established in 1970 by Rev. William Johnson of the Epsicopal Church of the Atonement, Rabbi Herman Schaalman of Emanuel Congregation and other members of the Edgewater Clerical Rabbinical Association. This organization, which is now know as the Edgewater Community Religious Association (ECRA), wanted to provide emergency help to victims of fires in “Arson Alley,” the Kenmore-Winthrop corridor between Foster and Devon. It was intended to be a short-term solution to a specific problem. However, it soon became clear that there was a need in Edgewater for an ongoing safety net for neighbors in need. Today Care for Real is the safety net for the entire Edgewater community.

Chi-Town Jazz Festival is delighted and proud to have named Care for Real as a beneficiary of this year’s events.
